Reading (PLP) Homework
Please check the homework calendar each night for reading homework.
*Please write your initials on the calendar date you completed the reading homework.
 
Below is a description of what your child will need to complete for reading homework. The letter you see on the homework calendar is the homework assignment for that evening. If you do not see a letter on the calendar date, there is no reading homework assignment for the evening.
 
A: Reread the book and practice the ring of words (reading the words on the ring and/or spelling the words)
 
B: Reread the book, choose a reading log question to answer, and practice the ring of words.
-Please use complete sentences when responding to a reading log question.
- An example of a complete answer is: The main idea of the story is…,
This book reminds me of…, or This book is mainly about…
(Writing in complete sentences is great practice!)
 
C: Practice the ring of words

Reading Log Questions

Choose one question to answer for each book that you write about in the log.

1. What did this book remind you of?

2. What did you learn that was new or interesting?

3. What was this book mainly about?

4. What questions do you have for the author?

5. How is the main character like you?

6. What was the problem in the book?

7. Was there a hero in the story? Tell about the hero.

8. Does one of the characters remind you of anyone? Why?

9. Where does the story take place? Write about the setting.

10. Write a short summary of the story.

11. Can you write five action words from the story?

12. Can you find and write the rhyming words from the story?

13. Can you find and write the describing words from the story?

14. Can you tell me five facts from the story?

15. Can you make a new ending for the story?
