Race to the Top

The Tri-Valley Local School District is scheduled to receive over $245,000 during the next four years to implement the Race to the Top grant. This grant is divided into four assurance areas:

1.       The Standards and Assessments assurance includes the adoption of internationally benchmarked standards and assessments that prepare all students for a 21st Century career and/or college pathway. Over the next four years, our district will be transitioning to the new/revised standards and assessments and aligning our curriculum to these standards. The revised assessments are expected to be in place for the 2014-2015 school year.
2.      The Data Systems assurance includes implementing and accessing a data system that measures student success, drives instructional decisions and informs teachers and principals how to improve teaching and learning.
3.      The Great Teachers and Leaders assurance addresses recruiting, developing, retaining, and recognizing effective teachers and principals. Our district will train mentors for new staff who will be required to participate in a four-year Resident Educator Program before obtaining their first teaching license.
4.      The Lowest-Achieving Schools assurance calls for action to be taken in turning around persistently underperforming schools. This assurance does not apply to our district as we do have any building in the lowest 5% of buildings in the State.
A district Transformation Team of teachers and administrators has
been established to guide and monitor the district’s progress through the
RttT process over the next four years.
